We're skipping the peach juice from the grocery store in favor of the lushness of a juicy peach and combining it with the earthy essence of ginger for this ginger peach iced tea recipe.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4-5 fresh peach slices (about 1/2 a peach)
  • 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2 slices fresh ginger, peeled (about 1” in length each)
  • 1 bag of black tea (or 1 tsp loose leaf tea)
  • 3 cups of water

Instructions

Place slices of fresh peach into a quart mason jar.

Add the brown sugar and fresh lemon juice.

Stir to combine. Set the mixture aside for 10-15 minutes.

Using a muddler or wooden spoon, mash and break up the peach slices, mixing them in with the brown sugar and lemon juice.

Heat water to boiling. Remove from heat.

Add 2 slices of peeled, fresh ginger and tea bag to the hot water. Let steep for 3-5 minutes.

Remove the tea bags and ginger slices from the tea using a fine mesh strainer.

Add hot tea mixture to the quart jar containing the muddled peach mixture.

Stir well to fully dissolve the brown sugar, then let the mixture sit until tea has reached room temperature. Pour tea mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the peach pieces.

Store in a quart mason jar or pitcher. Refrigerate until completely chilled.

Serve in glasses filled with ice cubes.

Garnish with fresh peach slices, thin pieces of lemon, or fresh mint.
