Homemade body scrub recipes are super simple to mix together and cost so much less than anything you’ll find in the store. This Orange Vanilla Body Scrub has 4 ingredients, mixes up in 5 minutes, smells delicious, and will definitely banish dry skin.

    Orange Vanilla Body Scrub

Luxurious bath products are my weakness, and thanks to rich, creamy coconut oil, this scrub definitely feels luxurious. And while I don’t usually make homemade beauty products, this simple sugar scrub recipe is so easy for me to mix up and so much cheaper than what you find in the store.

I prefer sugar body scrub over salt scrub, even those made with epsom salt or coarse sea salt, because I always have some kind of scrape on my hands. And nothing hurts like digging into a jar of salt scrub only to discover the sting of a tiny cut you didn’t realize you had!

Sugar body scrub is free from those stinging salts and made with natural ingredients. DIY body scrub is full of skin-softening ingredients and is a great way to get rid of those dead skin cells and keep skin soft during the cold winter months.

Homemade scrubs make great gifts! They’re a thoughtful gift for the mom-to-be at a baby shower, or as a homemade holiday gift or great hostess gifts during the holiday season. And since they’re made with pantry ingredients, a DIY sugar scrub recipe is perfect for putting together a last minute gift. You probably have all of the ingredients on hand!

There are tons of great homemade sugar scrub recipes! Try my Sugar and Spice Body Scrub made with brown sugar and olive oil or my refreshing Grapefruit Sugar Scrub filled with citrus zest and other simple ingredients.

    Tips

Skip the food coloring. Enjoy the natural color of your own homemade body scrub and skip adding any kind of coloring. It’s just not necessary, no matter what you’re used to seeing in store.

Add essential oils. Want a stronger scent to your scrub? Test out different scents to see what you enjoy the best. This recipe is easy to customize.

Tips on Orange Vanilla Body Scrub

Can I use this scrub on my face?

Nope! This scrub is not for use on your face, but it's good for your whole body! Just use from your shoulders, down. 🙂

    How long will it keep?

Because of the fresh zest and lack of preservatives, this scrub has a shelf life of 3-4 weeks at room temperature. For best results, use up before then.

What if I don't like the smell of oranges?

Leave out the orange zest for a lovely vanilla sugar scrub. Or substitute lemon zest for the orange zest for a lemon sugar scrub.

Can I store this scrub in the shower?

Yes! I store this body scrub in my shower and use it 1-2 times per week to keep my skin soft. It’s great for smoothing hands, feet, elbows, and other rough patches of skin.

What kind of jar should I use to store it in?

Use any kind you like, though be careful of glass jars in the shower! I save jars from other products I've bought - containers from jellies, jams and relishes or old beauty products work really well - and repurpose those for my DIY scrubs.

Does using coconut oil make this bath scrub smell like coconuts?

Nope! Coconut oil doesn’t smell like coconut, so if you’re not a fan, no problem. This body scrub smells 100% like a Creamsicle.
