    Slow cooker savory spiced nuts.

This delicious, savory snack swaps the cinnamon and sugar for garlic and rosemary. This savory spiced nuts recipe roasts in your slow cooker and makes a great homemade gift for your favorite snack lover.

    Savory Spiced Nuts

Spiced nuts make a great snack or homemade gift idea. Made with simple ingredients, this easy recipe for slow cooker spiced nuts is perfect for setting out at holiday parties and makes a great gift during the holiday season. Package the spiced nuts in mason jars, or cellophane bags to always have hostess gifts on hand.

This spiced nuts recipe doesn’t require any egg whites, making it naturally vegan. We’re also skipping many of the warm holiday spices here, trading a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar or pumpkin pie spice for savory garlic and rosemary.

    Ingredients in Savory Spiced Nuts

Ingredients for slow cooker savory spiced nuts.
    • Olive oil - Choose a nice neutral oil here. I like using olive oil, but you could use grape seed oil or avocado oil instead if you prefer.
    • Mixed Nuts - Pick your favorite blend of nuts, or use all of one flavor if you prefer. Whatever combo you want is what you should use. There's no rules here - it's all preference!
    • Brown sugar - Light brown sugar works best. We're only using a little bit to help the spices stick to the nuts. Swap it out for maple syrup if you want a natural sweetener.
    • Garlic powder and Onion powder - My favorite savory flavor duo! Garlic and onion powder add tons of flavor.
    • Paprika and Black pepper - These two spices both add a tiny kick (and color from the paprika) without making the nuts taste too spicy. If you prefer spicy nuts, add ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the spice mixture before you cook the nuts.
    • Rosemary - Fresh rosemary will give you the best rosemary flavor and look prettier in the finished dish. But you can use dried rosemary if that's what you have on hand.

How to Make Slow Cooker Savory Spiced Nuts

Place the nuts into a large slow cooker or crock pot. Add olive oil and stir until the nuts are coated.

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and rosemary.

Sugar and spices mixed together in a bowl.

Add the spice mixture to your slow cooker and give it a good stir until all of the nuts are well-coated.

Put the lid on your slow cooker and set it to low heat.

Cook nuts for 2 hours, stirring every 20-30 mins.

Spread the warm, savory spiced nuts out in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet or cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Nuts cooling after cooking in the slow cooker.

Allow nuts to cool to room temperature before enjoying or storing in your pantry in an airtight container.

    Enjoy!

    Recipe Tips

    • Don’t skip the stirring. If you mix everything together and walk away from your slow cooker for 2 hours, the nuts will burn. You MUST stir them every 20-30 minutes throughout the 2 hour cooking time to keep this from happening.
    • You don’t need extra salt in this recipe. Unless you’re using unsalted nuts, the salt already on the nuts is plenty for this recipe. No need to add sea salt.

How Long will Spiced Nuts Keep?

When stored in an airtight container, these spiced nuts will keep for up to a month in your pantry. They're the perfect make-ahead snack for your homemade happy hours or anytime you're entertaining!

This is a very easy way to enhance the flavor of nuts. Makes a great snack. I also packaged a couple jars as a thank you gift.
