Blackberry Simple Syrup for Cocktails and Mocktails

Ingredients:  – Sugar – Water – Blackberries 

Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. 

Add blackberries. Cook at a gentle boil for 2-3 minutes or until blackberries are soft.

Remove from heat once the mixture starts to foam and rise up in the pot. 

Set a fine mesh strainer over a bowl. Pour blackberry mixture through the sieve. 

Discard the leftover berry pieces. Pour syrup into a glass, airtight container. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Use blackberry syrup in place of simple syrup in a margarita or combine with soda water to make an Italian Soda.
