Homemade  Orange Simple Syrup

Ingredients:  – Sugar – Water – A fresh orange

Carefully peel a large piece or two of rind off of the orange. Try to get as little of the white pith under the peel as possible.

Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat. Add orange peel and let the mixture cool to room temperature.

Remove the orange peel. Refrigerate syrup until ready to use. (Note: You can leave the peel in the syrup for up to 24 hours for a stronger flavor.)

Use orange syrup to sweeten iced tea or lemonade, or instead of orange liqueur in cocktails.
