Sweet coconut, fresh bright lime juice, and your favorite tequila blanco combine for a creamy, tropical twist on the classic margarita in this Coconut Margarita recipe. Served on the rocks, just one sip will transport you to a warm, tropical beach!
Run a slice of lime around the rim of a glass, then dip the glass into the salt mixture.
Add ice cubes to the glass and set it aside.
In a cocktail shaker half filled with ice, combine tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, cream of coconut, and triple sec.
2 oz silver tequila, 1 oz cream of coconut, 1 oz lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 0.5 oz orange liqueur
Shake well and strain into your prepared glass.
Garnish with a lime wedge or lime wheel.
Sip and enjoy!
Notes
Make sure you use cream of coconut NOT coconut cream or coconut milk. It's usually by the cocktail mixers at your local grocery store because it's used in a piña colada and other sweet tropical drinks. Cream of coconut is sweetened and shakes up well in drinks. Coconut cream and coconut milk are not sweetened and neither work a substitution in this drink.
