(Use the buttons in my recipe card below to easily double or triple the recipe, depending on what you need.)
I love making this easy recipe in a quart mason jar because mason jars are made to withstand heat. No need to worry about having a heat-resistant pitcher or heat-safe pitcher.
When you’re ready to serve, simply pour your delicious ginger peach iced tea into a large pitcher and serve!
Ingredients

- Brown sugar – If you don’t have or want to use brown sugar, go with maple syrup instead.
- Peach – The more ripe and juicy the better! If it’s not peach season, frozen peaches were great in this recipe. Just make sure to thaw them completely before you use them.
- Lemon – Skip the store-bought juice in favor of squeezing a fresh lemon. You’ll need about 1/4 of a lemon for this recipe.
- Fresh ginger root – This inexpensive herb pairs so well with peaches! Just be sure to peel the fresh ginger. The peel has a bitterness to it and you don’t want that in your drink. Check out my tips below for how to peel ginger root. (Note – Do not use ground ginger in this recipe.)
- Black tea – Choose regular or decaf – it’s up to you! Use your favorite black tea – either bagged or loose leaf tea. You can swap the black tea for green tea or white tea if you want, but stay away from flavored peach tea bags or black tea blends that have other flavors. We’re getting the peach flavor from fresh fruit, so you’ll want to pass on any kind of tea with additional flavors in it, especially if it has artificial flavors.
How to Make Ginger Peach Iced Tea (Step by Step)

Place slices of fresh peach into a quart mason jar.

Add the brown sugar and fresh lemon juice. Stir and set the mixture aside for 10-15 minutes.

Using a muddler or wooden spoon, mash and break up the peaches, mixing them in with the brown sugar and lemon juice.

Heat water to boiling. Remove from heat. Add slices of peeled, fresh ginger and a black tea bag to the hot water. Let steep for 3-5 minutes.

Remove the tea bags and ginger slices from the tea using a fine mesh strainer.

Add hot tea mixture to the quart jar containing the muddled peach mixture.

Stir well to fully dissolve the brown sugar, then let the mixture sit until tea has reached room temperature.

Pour tea mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the peach pieces. Store in a quart mason jar or pitcher. Refrigerate until completely chilled.
Serve in glasses filled with ice cubes. Garnish with fresh peach slices, thin pieces of lemon, or fresh mint.

Recipe Tips
Make sure the tea’s completely cold before serving. Pouring warm tea over ice will cause the ice to melt too fast and lead to a very watery tea with much less flavor. Be sure your tea has cooled completely and had time to chill in the refrigerator before you serve it.
Put ice in the glass, not your pitcher or jar. Adding ice cubes to your picture or to the jar will lead to watery tea when the ice melts. Keep the ice cubes in the serving glasses for the best flavor.
Use ripe peaches. The juice in the peach is going to give this drink its peach flavor so you want to use a very ripe peach.
In a hurry? Substitute homemade peach syrup for the peach and brown sugar mixture.

How to Peel Fresh Ginger Root
The quickest and safest way to peel fresh ginger is with the side of a teaspoon. Holding the ginger root in one hand, drag the side of the teaspoon towards you, scraping along the ginger root. The peel will come off on the spoon.

Discard the peel and repeat the process until you have as much ginger peeled as you need.
You can also peel the entire ginger root at once, slice it up, and freeze it until you’re ready to make more ginger peach iced tea! Just be sure to thaw your frozen ginger slices before you use them in more tea.
How do I make this peach iced tea sugar free?
If you want, you can use artificial sweeteners or a sugar substitute like Stevia or Monk fruit in place of the brown sugar. Or you could simply leave out the brown sugar and have your tea not be sweetened by anything expect the juicy peaches. It will still be delicious and full of flavor.
