Gin
I used to say I didn’t like gin, until a friend introduced me to all the varieties of gin that exist. Now it’s my first choice spirit.
Gin is a clear liquor distilled from juniper berries and wide variety of other botanicals, which give it its distinct flavor. That “pine tree” taste? It’s the juniper berries. (And if they’re not included, it’s not gin.)
But not all gins have the same amount of juniper in them. And some have so many other delicious botanicals in them (herbs, spices, flowers), that you can barely taste the juniper!
These gin cocktail recipes feature other ingredients such as bitters, citrus, homemade syrups, and/or liqueurs, which are used to add variety and additional flavor to the drinks.
PRO TIP: If you’re not a big fan of gin cocktails, get a bottle of London Dry Gin (like Beefeater) and try my Grapefruit and Elderflower Gin Cocktail, Cherry Blossom Cocktail, or this Pear Rosemary Gin Cocktail.
