If you’ve never had a pear cocktail before, this one’s the perfect place to start. The flavor is delicate and subtly sweet, with layers of pear from both juice and homemade pear syrup. A squeeze of lemon keeps everything crisp and refreshing, so each sip tastes clean and bright rather than overly sweet.
You only need four ingredients and a few minutes to shake it up, but the result feels like something you’d order at a fancy restaurant. Serve it in a coupe or martini glass with a fresh pear slice for an effortless, elegant presentation – a cocktail that’s as simple as it is stunning.
Ingredients

- Vodka – I’m using plain vodka for this recipe because I don’t often have pear vodka on hand. If you do and want to up the pear flavor, feel free to use that. Otherwise, this has been written to work great with plain vodka. I like Titos vodka when I’m choosing an unflavored vodka.
- Pear Juice – This is the first layer of pear flavor in this cocktail. Find pear juice in your local grocery store, likely in the baby food aisle. You can also use pear nectar if you can find it.
- Pear Syrup – It’ll be easier to take 10 minutes to make your own pear syrup than try to find it pre-made in the store. You don’t even need to peel the pears. Just core, cut, add them to the sugar and water, and cook for a few minutes in order to get a delicious pear syrup with tons of fresh flavor. Get my recipe on my pear syrup recipe page.
- Lemon – There’s only 4 ingredients in this cocktail, so squeeze a fresh lemon for the lemon juice in your pear martini. You’ll need half a lemon (or less) per drink.
- Pear – A slice or two of fresh pear is an elegant garnish and one that won’t distract from the delicate flavor of your martini. Pear does brown quickly, like apples, so if you’re not going to serve your drinks immediately, give the pear slices a little dip in lemon juice before garnishing.
How to Make a Pear Martini

Combine vodka, pear juice, pear syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice cubes. Shake well.

Double strain into a coupe glass or martini glass.

Ingredients
- 2 oz vodka
- 2 oz pear juice
- 1.5 oz pear syrup
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- Fresh pear, garnish
Instructions

Make Your Own Pear Syrup
Easily made with water, sugar, and fresh ripe pears, pear syrup is the second layer of pear flavor going into this drink. This syrup tastes like the “heavy syrup” they use for canning pears. How to Garnish a Pear Martini
I highly recommend sticking to slices of fresh pear for garnishing this cocktail. A dehydrated lemon wheel could also work since lemon is an ingredient in this recipe and the dehydration will have removed almost all of its scent.

Most anything else – like rosemary, thyme, or cinnamon sticks – will throw off the flavor of the cocktail and overwhelm the flavor of the pear. Plus those ingredients aren’t in the cocktail and the garnish rule is to stick with what’s in the drink when adding elements to the top/outside of your glass.
Make a Pitcher of Pear Martinis
Entertaining a group? Follow the amounts below to make a batch of 8 pear vodka cocktails:
In a large pitcher combine:
- 16 ounces (2 cups) plain vodka
- 16 ounces (2 cups) pear juice
- 12 ounces (1 ½ cups) pear syrup
- 4 ounces (½ cup) fresh lemon juice
- 4 ounces (½ cup) cold water or ice cubes
Mix everything together and refrigerate until ready to serve. Pour into chilled martini glasses and garnish with slices of fresh pear.
Note: The addition of water (or ice) to this batch recipe is to offset the need to shake the cocktail with ice. If you plan on shaking each drink with ice as you serve it, you should leave out the water.
