What’s in a Blackberry Vanilla Mocktail
- Vanilla Simple Syrup - This quick simple syrup is easy to make at home with sugar, water, and vanilla extract. Get the recipe on my Vanilla Simple Syrup page.
- Limes - Fresh lime juice will give you the best flavor. You’ll need about 1 lime per mocktail for this recipe.
- Blackberries - Fresh berries or thawed, frozen berries will both work for this drink.
- Fresh Mint - Only fresh mint works for this recipe.
- Sparkling Water - Choose club soda, soda water, or plain sparkling water here. You could use lime or blackberry sparkling water if you wanted to up the flavor of either ingredient.
How to Make Blackberry Vanilla Mocktails (Step by Step)
Add blackberries and lime juice to a cocktail shaker.
Muddle to crush the berries.
Add the mint leaves and vanilla simple syrup to the shaker.
Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
Shake well for 10 seconds. Double strain through a fine mesh strainer held over a coupe or martini glass. (Note: You may need to tip the shaker back and forth a few times to get all of the liquid out.)
Top with sparkling water. Give your drink a gentle stir.
Garnish with fresh blackberries, a lime wedge, and/or a sprig of mint.
Enjoy!
Make Vanilla Simple Syrup
This three ingredient syrup is one of the easiest flavored syrup to make! All you need is sugar, vanilla extract, and water! Get the recipe and step-by-step instructions over on my Vanilla Simple Syrup page.
Note: Do not add vanilla extract directly into the drink instead of making vanilla simple syrup. Vanilla extract is highly concentrated, unsweetened, and has a strong, alcohol-like taste when not dilute. Use vanilla simple syrup for a well-balanced sweetness.
Can I make this mocktail in advance for a party?
It’s best to prepare this mocktail fresh, but you can make a batch of the blackberry, lime, vanilla syrup, and mint mixture ahead of time. Store it in the fridge for a few hours, then strain and add sparkling water just before serving to keep the drink bubbly and fresh.
