This easy recipe uses my mixed berry syrup, which can be made days ahead of time so you can be ready to stir up a pitcher of mixed berry lemonade any time. And don't worry if you can't find fresh summer berries (or they're just too expensive), the syrup can be made with frozen mixed berries as well.

Homemade berry lemonade is a flavorful drink with beautiful color and something the entire family can enjoy. Turn it into a lemonade cocktail easily by adding a little vodka. It's the perfect summer drink to serve at  your next backyard bbq or summer picnic.

    What’s in Mixed Berry Lemonade

    Ingredients for Berry Lemonade.
    • Lemon juice - Fresh lemon juice is always best, but if squeezing 8 fresh lemons for this recipe is too much, choose a high quality store-bought lemon juice like Real Lemon for your lemonade.
    • Mixed berry simple syrup - Made with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries combined with white sugar and water, this syrup is the key ingredient in this lemonade and takes only 10 minutes to make. Get the recipe on my Mixed Berry Simple Syrup page.
    • Cold water - Filtered water will get you the cleanest flavor for this recipe. You can swap the water for cold club soda or sparkling water if you like a little bit of bubbles in your drink or want to make this recipe feel a bit more special.

How to Make Mixed Berry Lemonade (Step by Step)

Lemon juice being poured into a tall, glass pitcher.
Water being poured into a tall, glass pitcher of berry lemonade.

Combine lemon juice, berry simple syrup and water in a large pitcher. (Do not add ice.)

Stir well and chill until ready to serve.

    To serve:

Berry lemonade being poured into a rocks glass filled with ice.

Stir lemonade in the pitcher then pour into a glass filled with ice cubes.

A hand placing a lemon slice into a glass of berry lemonade.

Garnish with fresh berries, lemon slices, and/or a sprig of fresh mint.

Store leftover lemonade in a glass airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Be sure to stir well before serving.

    Homemade Mixed Berry Syrup

Made using fresh or frozen berries, mixed berry simple syrup takes 10 minutes to make and tastes better than anything you can buy at the grocery store. Get the recipe and step-by-step instructions over on my Mixed Berry Syrup page.

    Make It Spiked Berry Lemonade

To make a delicious summer cocktail out of this lemonade, just add in 1 cup of vodka alongside the other ingredients when stirring up your fresh lemonade. If you'd rather not spike the entire pitchers, add 1 ounce of vodka to a glass of ice cubes before topping with lemonade. Be sure to stir well to mix everything together!

What to Serve with Berry Lemonade

Serve this bright berry drink alongside some light appetizers like my Apple Salsa with strawberries and Cinnamon Tortilla Chips. Or make some easy Whipped Ricotta Dip and homemade crostini.

Homemade Berry Lemonade by the Glass

To stir up a quick glass of mixed berry lemonade, combine 1.25 oz fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon), 2 oz berry simple syrup, and 4 oz water in a tall glass. Stir well. Add ice cubes to fill the glass. Garnish with fresh berries and/or a sprig of mint.

Add Ice to Glasses, Not the Pitcher

Even if you are immediately serving your lemonade, skip adding lots of ice to the pitcher or punch bowl. As it sits - in the refrigerator or on your counter - the ice cubes or an ice ring will melt, watering down the lemonade. Instead place the ice cubes in your serving glasses and pour the berry lemonade over the ice before garnishing and serving.
