This cocktail is easy to adjust based on personal preference. Want a spicier drink? Muddle the jalapeño slices in the shaker along with the pineapple juice before adding the other ingredients. Don’t like it spicy? Leave out the peppers for a delicious pineapple margarita.
Served on the rocks with a salted rim, these easy Spicy Pineapple Margaritas are perfect for happy hour, Cinco de Mayo festivities, or your next Taco Tuesday.
What's in a Spicy Pineapple Margarita
- Blanco tequila - Your favorite clear, silver tequila is the best choice and will give the cleanest flavor in this spicy cocktail.
- Pineapple juice - Choose 100% pure pineapple juice for this recipe. Either canned or fresh pineapple juice will work.
- Simple Syrup - Easily made at home with sugar and water, simple syrup gives a little added sweetness. Get my recipe and syrup tips over on my Simple Syrup recipe page. You can also use agave syrup in place of the simple syrup if your prefer.
- Limes - Fresh lime juice is a must for any margarita. You'll need about 1 medium lime per drink.
- Triple Sec or Orange Liqueur - While triple sec is affordable and easy to find in your local liquor store, any orange liqueur will work here.
- Jalapeño peppers - Fresh jalapeños are what give this cocktail its spice, which means the spice level will vary based on the spiciness of the individual peppers. A little heat goest a long way, so start with a few slices of peppers and increase the number of jalapeño slices from there if you want a spicier drink. Don't like spicy? Just leave the jalapeños out!
- Coarse salt or Tajin seasoning - A salt rim is a must for me on margaritas, but feel free to use Tajin seasoning mix instead of the salt to add more flavor and spice to your drink.
