Jump to Recipe Print RecipePeaches and bourbon are a perfect pair for summer peach season. Peach infused bourbon is an easy, two ingredient combination that only needs a little time to be better than anything you can buy at the store.
Why Make Your Own Infused Bourbon?
The infused spirits sold at your local liquor store are full of sugars, artificial colors, and artificial flavors. And because liquor brands in the United States aren’t required to list their ingredients, you don’t even get to know which sugars, fake colors or flavors are in there.
Making your own infused liquors at home is super easy. Besides a mason jar with a lid, the most they require is a little patience while you wait a few days for the flavor from the fruit to meld with the liquor.
Homemade infused liquor lets you control the ingredients, including the sugar content. I don’t put any sugar in my infusions for the simple fact that I want to add it later. How much - or how little - sugar goes into my cocktail, and what kind of sugar, shouldn’t be determined by the liquor. It should come from the type of simple syrup I use in a recipe.
What’s in Peach Infused Bourbon
- Peaches - Either fresh or frozen peaches work here. If using fresh, you want the peaches to be very ripe for the best flavor. There’s no need to peel the peaches before using them. The color in the peach skins will add color to the bourbon. If using frozen peaches, you can thaw them first or add them straight from the freezer to the jar.
- Bourbon - Choose your favorite mid-priced bourbon for infusing. I like using Buffalo Trace, Knob Creek, or Bulleit bourbon whiskey for fruit infusions.
How to Make Peach Infused Bourbon
Wash and slice peaches and place them in a mason jar.
Fill the jar with bourbon.
Cover tightly and store in a cool, dry place for 4 to 5 days.
Pour the bourbon through a fine mesh strainer to remove the peaches. Discard the used peaches.
Store your peach bourbon in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months or in the refrigerator for up to 1 year.
Ways to Use Peach Infused Bourbon
Besides being delicious on its own, use your peach infused bourbon to make some delicious summer cocktails.
- Drink it straight over ice.
- Use it in place of traditional bourbon in mint juleps or my Peach Old Fashioned recipe.
- Combine it with a little simple syrup and iced tea for a spiked Peach Iced Tea.
- Make a peach cocktail using 2 ounces peach infused bourbon, 1 ounce brown sugar syrup, 2 dashes of peach bitters, and 3-4 ounces of ginger ale.

I love using infused liquor to level up my drink recipes. Try Grapefruit Infused Tequila in a Paloma, Lime and Mint Infused Rum in a Mojito, or Strawberry Infused Vodka in my Strawberry Basil Cocktail with prosecco.
