Ingredients

Ingredients for an Espresso Martini Mocktail.
  • Espresso cold brew coffee – Follow these step-by-step instructions to make espresso roast cold brew at home, or use brewed espresso that’s been chilled. If you have an espresso machine at home and want to use fresh espresso,
  • Coffee syrup – This 2 ingredient simple syrup is a great replacement for coffee liqueur. Make it yourself in just a few minutes!
  • Vanilla extract – Use 100% pure vanilla extract. There aren’t a lot of ingredients in this mocktail, so use the best quality you can.
  • Cocoa Powder – Unsweetened cocoa powder add the bitterness needed to balance out the drink.
  • Heavy Cream (optional) – If you like cream in your coffee, definitely add the heavy cream into your espresso martini. If you don’t – skip it!

If you love sweet and creamy coffee drinks or desserts like an affogato, definitely add the cream when making this mocktail!

Recipe Tips

Whether you’re using cold brew espresso coffee or brewed espresso, be sure your coffee is cold before making your mocktail! If you shake it with hot espresso, too much ice will melt and your drink will be watery.

Using fresh espresso itself isn’t what makes an espresso martini frothy. It’s simply the coffee. Using cold brew coffee won’t eliminate the foam. Not shaking it well will. You MUST shake this mocktail vigorously for a count of 10-15 in order to get that classic espresso martini foam on the top.

Make Your Own Coffee Syrup

My coffee syrup recipe is designed to impart bold coffee flavor and be a liquor-free replacement for Kahula and other coffee liqueurs. It’s made from brewed coffee and sugar, so it’s easy to whip up a batch of homemade syrup. Get my full recipe and instructions over on my Coffee Syrup Recipe page.
