Bursting with the sweet, juicy flavor of ripe peaches, this Peach Margarita is a summery drink that perfectly balances the brightness of fresh lime juice and sweetness of blanco tequila with muddled fresh peaches. It’s a delicious way to celebrate summer, making every sip taste orchard-fresh.

Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, enjoying a sunny afternoon on the patio, or simply unwinding after a long day, this Peach Margarita is the perfect companion. Serve it up in your favorite rocks glass, garnished with a slice of fresh peach and a rim of salt, and watch as it becomes everyone’s new favorite drink.

Ingredients

Ingredients for peach margaritas.
  • Silver Tequila – Choose your favorite brand of silver or blanco tequila for this recipe. A mid-priced brand between $25-$30 works great. There’s no need to use a more expensive brand since we’re adding lots of ingredients to it, not sipping it straight up.
  • Peach Simple Syrup – While you can buy this syrup at the store, I highly recommend making it at home with 3 ingredients and 10 minutes of your time.
  • Limes – Fresh citrus makes for a great margarita, so squeeze fresh limes for this recipe. You should need about 1 lime per drink.
  • Orange Liqueur or Triple Sec – Use your favorite orange liqueur for this recipe. Cointreau and Grand Marnier are popular choices. Triple Sec works great and is a more budget-friendly choice.
  • Peach Slices – Muddling fresh, ripe peaches gives this peach margarita a lot of its peach flavor. If you can’t get fresh peaches, (thawed) frozen peaches will also work too.
  • Coarse Salt, garnish – You can add as much salt or as little (including none) to the rim of your glass as you like. You can also swap the coarse salt out for white decorating sugar if you prefer a sugar rim with a fruity marg.

Pro Tip

Both the color of your homemade peach syrup and your margarita will depend on the color of the peaches you use. The redder the peach skin, the more pink your cocktail will be. The same with the color of the flesh of your peaches. If you want your drink to match the flesh of the peaches you’re using, peel your peaches before using.

Recipe Tips

  • You do not need to peel your peaches before using in your margarita.
  • If you enjoy small pieces of fruit in your drinks, skip the double straining and simply pour your cocktail from the shaker into your glass.
  • Frozen peaches work great in place of fresh peaches in this recipe, just be sure to thaw them completely first.
  • Make the peach syrup a few hours (or days) ahead of making these margaritas. It will need time to chill before using.

How to Make a Pitcher of Peach Margaritas

Entertaining a group? Don’t want to make individual cocktails for everyone? Batch this peach cocktail recipe and make a pitcher full of drink with the recipe below. Makes 8 cocktails.

  • 2 ripe peaches
  • 8 oz (1 cup) lime juice, fresh preferred
  • 16 oz (2 cups) blanco tequila
  • 12 oz (1 ½ cup) peach syrup (This is one batch of my peach syrup recipe.)
  • 4 oz (½ cup) orange liqueur
  • 4 oz (½ cup) cold water
  • Coarse salt, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for garnish

In the base of a cocktail shaker, add 2 ripe peaches – sliced – along with fresh lime juice. Muddle until the peaches are completely crushed.

Pour the mixture into a large pitcher. Add tequila, peach syrup, orange liqueur, and water. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Note: The water in this pitcher recipe is taking the place of shaking the cocktails with ice. Don’t leave it out or your margs will be too strong and not taste their best.

To Serve

Run a slice of lime around the rim of each glass. Place some coarse salt onto a small plate, then dip the glass rims into the coarse salt. Fill the glasses with ice. Pour your chilled peach margaritas into the glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge and/or a slice of fresh peach.
