This strawberry lemonade vodka cocktail is a delicious cocktail for a hot summer day! We’re combining the flavor of fresh strawberries (in the form of strawberry simple syrup) with fresh lemon juice and vodka for an easy cocktail you can make in minutes.

    Strawberry Lemonade

Spiked strawberry lemonade is a popular alcoholic drink for those warm weather months. However, I don’t always want to go through the hassle of making a batch of homemade lemonade - in addition to the fresh strawberry puree - in order to have a great cocktail.

This strawberry lemonade vodka drink skips that step and instead has you creating the lemonade right in the glass. With fresh fruity flavor from the ripe strawberries in the syrup and brightness from fresh lemon juice, you can create an easy homemade strawberry lemonade at the same time you're crafting a refreshing cocktail for a hot day.

    Ingredients

    • Vodka
    • Strawberry simple syrup
    • A lemon
    • Club soda or sparkling water
    • Mint sprig
    • Lemon slices, strawberry slices (for garnish)

How to Make a Strawberry Lemonade Cocktail

Combine vodka, strawberry syrup, and lemon juice in a highball glass.

    Fill the glass with ice.

Give the mint a clap between your hands, then add it to the glass.

Fill the glass with club soda.

    Stir and enjoy!

Garnish with fresh lemon slices, more fresh mint and/or a strawberry slice.

    Make it a Mocktail

To make a delicious non-alcoholic version of this Strawberry Lemonade, combine 3 oz strawberry syrup to 3 oz and 1 oz lemon juice in a glass. Fill the glass with ice. Add the mint and top with club soda.

Craft a Large Batch of Vodka Strawberry Lemonade Cocktails

This vodka strawberry lemonade recipe is easy to create as a large batch for your next party. Combine 1 ½ cups vodka, 1 ½ cups strawberry simple syrup, 3 oz fresh lemon juice (about 3 lemons) and 24 oz club soda or sparkling water in a large pitcher. Serve over ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge, a sprig of mint, and/or ripe strawberries. Makes 6 cocktails.

How to Make Strawberry Simple Syrup

Strawberry simple syrup requires 3 simple ingredients and 10 minutes to make! Craft your own syrup for this recipe using just water, sugar, and sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen), all easily found at your grocery store! Get the instructions over on my strawberry simple syrup page.

    Tips

Chill your syrup! Be sure to make your strawberry syrup ahead of time so it's completely chilled when you make your cocktail. Using warm syrup will cause the ice cubes in your drink to melt faster, resulting in a more watered down drink.

Press and roll your citrus. Before you cut and juice your lemon, roll it on your kitchen counter while applying a little pressure with your palm to get as much juice out of the fruit as easily as possible.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use bottled lemon juice?

Skip the bottled juice. Fresh juice is SUPER important here, so take the time to juice fresh lemons. You’ll need about half of a lemon per drink for this cocktail. Plan on a whole lemon per mocktail variation.

What alcohol goes well with lemonade?

Vodka is delicious in lemonade because it doesn’t alter the flavor of the lemonade or anything you mix into your lemonade cocktail. Gin is also delicious, though I prefer a more neutral tasting gin like Aviation or Beefeater if I’m mixing it with lemonade.

    What tastes good with lemonade?

I love adding different fruit flavor combinations to my lemonade. Besides strawberry syrup, you could also make this drink with blueberry syrup for a delicious blueberry lemonade cocktail or mocktail.

What kind of vodka should I use?

Choose your favorite vodka for this recipe. I use Smirnoff because it's easy for me to find at my local liquor stores and comes in at a budget-friendly price point. If you REALLY want to use a flavored vodka in this, I recommend Stoli Strawberry or Absolut Citron. Both have excellent, fresh fruit flavors. You can also create your own Strawberry Infused Vodka for this cocktail.
