What is it about a holiday season that invites us to indulge in sweet cocktails? Full of vanilla vodka, white chocolate liqueur, and brown sugar syrup, this sugar cookie martini is the liquid version of your favorite cookie.

A glass of sugar cookie martini.

Sugar cookies are my favorite winter holiday treat – for both Christmas or Valentine’s Day – and this recipe gives those cookies a boozy kick. It’s a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth and get in the holiday spirit.

We’re skipping the cookie coffee creamer and cake vodka for this sugar cookie martini recipe, getting the vanilla flavor from vanilla vodka – which is something I’m much more likely to have on hand.

The secret ingredient in this cocktail is macadamia nut liqueur. This is the best alcohol to get the buttery sweet taste of a sugar cookie. (I tested a LOT of recipes to get to this one.)

Macadamia Nut liqueur is the kind of liquor you only put in sweet cocktails at the holidays, but like Rumchata, Irish cream liqueur, and its other sweet counterparts, this liqueur is worth having on hand.

This festive cocktail is ideal for sipping on Christmas Eve or while snuggled up under a blanket watching your favorite rom-com on Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Ingredients for a sugar cookie martini.
  • Vanilla vodka – Choose your favorite brand of vanilla vodka.
  • White chocolate liqueur – Choose your favorite brand of white chocolate liqueur.
  • Heavy cream – Only use heavy cream or half and half here. Don’t use skim milk, low-fat milk, or even whole milk instead of the cream. This recipe needs the fat from the heavy cream to have a super creamy texture which helps make it taste like an actual cookie.
  • Brown sugar syrup – Make your own brown sugar syrup at home by combining a half cup of hot water with a half cup of brown sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and chill completely before using.
  • Macadamia nut liqueur – The macadamia nut liqueur is providing both a buttery and slightly nutty flavor in this cocktail that helps give it its sugar cookie flavor. If you don’t have any on hand or can’t find any macadamia nut liqueur, replace it with 0.5 oz Buttershots + 0.25 oz amaretto liqueur.
  • Raw sugar or decorating sugar (for garnish) – Using raw sugar will give your sugar cookie martini that sugar crunch that you find on top of an actual cookie. Want to make your drink festive? Use colorful decorating sugar to match whatever holiday look you want!

Just swap out the raw sugar for a mix of red and green sugar to create a festive sprinkle rim! You could also use holiday themed red and white sprinkles or nonpareils for a colorful sprinkle rim.

Recipe Tips

Make the brown sugar syrup ahead of time so it can cool completely before you use it. It should be well chilled before you use the syrup in your cocktail.
