Skip to RecipeBright, refreshing, and undeniably eye-catching, the Blue Mojito is a fun twist on the classic Cuban cocktail.

Swapping traditional simple syrup for blue curaçao syrup gives this drink its striking color while keeping the crisp, mint-lime flavors that make mojitos so popular. Whether you’re sipping poolside, hosting a summer gathering, or simply want a vibrant drink to brighten up your evening, this Blue Mojito is sure to impress.
This cocktail is perfect for a hot summer day when you want something light, citrusy, and refreshing. The balance of cool mint, zesty lime, and a hint of sweetness and orange from the blue curaçao syrup makes it easy to sip, while the club soda adds a bubbly lift. Since this recipe uses blue curaçao syrup instead of the liqueur, it keeps the alcohol content lower than other cocktails, making it a great choice for leisurely afternoons or casual get-togethers.
If you love mojitos, this blue version is a must-try! It offers all the flavors of the traditional mojito with a unique visual appeal that’s perfect for themed parties or just adding a splash of color to your cocktail lineup.
Plus, it’s easy to make at home with just a few ingredients. Pair it with your favorite summer appetizers, like these easy strawberry bites or peach and mango salsa with homemade tortilla chips, and enjoy a refreshing drink that looks just as good as it tastes.
What’s in a Blue Mojito
- White Rum - Choose your favorite white rum for this recipe. Skip the dark rum, it'll overwhelm the other flavors.
- Blue Curaçao Syrup - Make your own, or swap it out for blue Curaçao liqueur if you prefer. This gives our blue drink its color and adds a bit of orange flavor to the cocktail.
- Lime Juice - Squeeze fresh limes for the lime juice in this recipe. You'll need about 1 lime per cocktail.
- Mint - Fresh mint is absolutely necessary for any mojito and can not be swapped for anything. (Do not use dried mint for this recipe.)
- Soda water - The classic choice for this cocktail is club soda, but sparkling water work great here as well. Use a lime or orange flavored sparkling water to play up those flavors from this recipe.
How to Make a Blue Curaçao Mojito (Step by Step)
Place mint leaves and lime juice in a tall glass.
Gently muddle mint leaves to bruise them and release their oils.
Add white rum and blue curaçao syrup to the glass.
Add ice cubes to fill the glass.
Top with club soda or sparkling water.
Garnish with a large mint sprig and/or a lime slice. Stir, sip and enjoy!
What is Blue Curaçao?
Made from oranges grown on the Dutch island of Curaçao, blue curaçao liqueur is an orange liqueur that has a blue color added to it. The color is a key difference between this and other orange liqueurs like triple sec. Blue Curaçao Syrup is the non-alcoholic version of the liqueur.
Making Blue Curaçao Syrup
One of my favorite things about mojitos is their low alcohol content. To keep with this, I use blue curaçao syrup in place of blue curaçao liqueur in my blue mojitos. The homemade syrup can even be made with natural blue coloring. Get the recipe and instructions over on my Blue Curaçao Syrup page.
